Redknee Inc. Supports New IBM Developer Centers
Facilitating Telecom e-Business Integration
San Francisco, CA, February 18, 2002 (Internet Wire) -- Redknee today announced its support of the IBM Developer Center for Telecom and e-business, created to assist independent software vendors (ISVs) in developing e-business applications that can connect easily to telephone networks. Redknee said it continues to extend its Open Application Services Interface System - OASISTM to support the new, open Parlay application programming interfaces (APIs) defined by The Parlay Group. The 63-member, nonprofit Parlay Group, of which Redknee is a member, is working to standardize APIs so communications applications can access the capabilities of the core telecom network.
Today, only a small number of developers have the skills to integrate multiple telecommunications protocols required to develop telecom applications. The combination of Parlay APIs and Redknee OASIS™ allows third party developers to create new and innovative applications, in as little as 20 minutes. Multi-network integrations such as WLAN-PLMN that combine 802.11 access with 3G carrier provisioning and billing systems can now be completed in weeks instead of months.
Benefits for telecom carriers include rapid time to market, lower cost of provisioning, and increased billing methods to introduce a wide range of mobile applications. Built on open standards like 3GPPs Open Services Architecture (OSA), Redknee OASISTM family of products include the Synaxis-2100 Transactional Gateway, Synaxis-2200 Secure User Profile Storage, Synaxis-2300 ISDN services, Synaxis-2800 Data Mart, Syanxis-2900 OAM&P server, Synaxis-3100 Enterprise server, Synaxis-5100 Programmable Voice Response Units, Synaxis-5200 TCP/IP intelligent switching and routing, Synaxis-8000 Application Servers. Redknee additionally offers subscriber applications such as IM and SMS messaging, location-based services, and prepaid data rating services. Other solutions include customer self-care, customizable loyalty programs, advanced intelligent network capabilities.
"Our collaboration with companies like IBM and organizations like the Parlay Group helps enhance developers' ability to deliver next generation mobile network applications that combine voice, data, location, and messaging", said Jeff Popoff, head of Redknee Partnerships and Alliances. "IBM's state-of-the-art DCTe program, and Redknee's Open Application Services Interface System, OASIS(TM), offers developers cutting edge opportunities and leading solutions."
IBM's new global Developer Center for Telecom and e-business (DCTe), hosted within the IBM Solution Partnership Center (SPC) in San Mateo, California, will help provide support to ISVs who want to extend their applications to leverage the telecom network or to develop new applications for next generation networks. In April, IBM plans to open two more Developer Centers within existing SPCs in Sydney, Australia, and Hursley, England. The SPCs are a benefit of membership in IBM's PartnerWorld for Developers program. Redknee has been part of the program since 1999.
