ADC, Redknee Alliance Gives Service Providers Pathway to Personalized Mobile Services
MINNEAPOLIS, Jun 19, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Service Providers Benefit from SS7-IP Integration, Open Application Development Environment
ADC, (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for multiservice broadband networks, and Redknee (www.redknee.com), a leading provider of mobile applications and infrastructure solutions, today announced a strategic alliance that is intended to help enable wireless service providers to quickly and efficiently offer new transactional and location-based services with minimal impact on their existing networks.
ADC's and Redknee's alliance intends to give wireless service providers the ability to introduce advanced IP-based mobile services such as location services, PIM (Personal Information Manager) and IP-based unified account information. These mobile services will be delivered on a scalable platform that combines ADC's proven SS7 technology for the PSTN with Redknee's IP-based open application frameworks.
"We believe ADC's alliance with Redknee is another important step in delivering on our vision of Adaptive Communications, the next frontier of enhanced services," said Grant Wakelin, president of ADC's Enhanced Services Division. "By using our sophisticated signaling capability, service providers can quickly and efficiently develop a wide range of value-added mobile services."
As part of its Adaptive Communications Services strategy, ADC delivers a portfolio of hardware, software and professional services to service providers that enable them to help empower subscribers through anywhere, anytime communications. ADC's Adaptive Communications Services strategy is designed for service providers to respond to a rapidly evolving marketplace, adding new services to their product offerings at their own pace.
Redknee's IP-based mobile frameworks provide real-time management of mobile network intelligence, including location information, financial transactions, applications internetworking and subscriber preferences. Such intelligence is extremely valuable to service providers who seek to deliver services that adjust to customer's lifestyles and daily needs.
The introduction of IP-based mobile frameworks helps wireless service providers the ability to rapidly deploy revenue-generating services to meet changing customer needs. Overall, the ADC-Redknee alliance intends to enable wireless service providers to adopt IP-based mobile frameworks on a scalable basis, while supporting customers on existing and next-generation mobile networks.
"The combination of Redknee's IP-mobile frameworks and ADC's experience in signaling and call control applications is intended to help service providers leverage the power of their networks to develop targeted solutions for their own customers," said Duncan Ratcliffe, president and CEO of Redknee Inc.
Under the alliance, ADC's AccessMANAGER(TM) will be integrated with Redknee's Synaxis(TM) OASIS(TM) (Open Applications Services Interface System) an open-architecture applications platform designed for reliability, scalability and high performance.
