Bakrie Telecom Taps Redknee Unified Rating and Charging System to Rapidly Deploy New Data Services
Redknee Solution Provides Bakrie Prepaid Subscribers with Flexible Charging Capability for Data Services
JAKARTA, Indonesia and TORONTO – Sept. 19, 2006 – Redknee Inc., a leading provider of innovative infrastructure software that monetizes and personalizes services and content for mobile users, today announced Bakrie Telecom has selected Redknee’s Unified Rating and Charging System (URCS) to provide real-time data rating and charging capabilities to all prepaid subscribers. Indonesia-based Bakrie Telecom is a pioneer in Indonesia’s telecommunications industry, taking an innovation leadership role with its service and product offerings.
“Redknee has the expertise to help us differentiate Bakrie offerings from simple volume-based rating plans common in the market,” said AG Rao, CTO at Bakrie Telecom. “We require an innovative, unified data rating and charging platform for our overall service offering and Redknee has the proven integration capability plus a robust and scalable solution to achieve this.”
The Redknee solution allows Bakrie to extend its mobile service offering beyond voice and messaging to include data services like content and application downloads, mCommerce and streaming content such as Mobile TV – all in real time.
“One of the most contentious issues operators face today is how to quickly and effectively incorporate new data services within their existing infrastructure without creating operational gaps,” said Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO Redknee. “Redknee’s subscriber-centric approach allows Bakrie Telecom to have the marketing agility to quickly offer and monetize new data services on a personalized subscriber level while still increasing operational efficiency in today’s fiercely competitive mobile market.”
With real-time balance management, URCS lets subscribers take advantage of up-to-date information to make informed decisions about their usage and expenditure. Operators have the ability to verify usage limits and view account balance status in real-time before authorizing services and deploying point-of-service rate plans. This helps operators build stronger relationships with subscribers by providing instant notification of depleted account balances and encourages subscribers to top up their accounts before they are completely out of funds.
Rather than requiring operators to replace existing solutions, URCS complements an operator’s existing billing infrastructure by enabling new capabilities as new services and charging models are introduced. It converges all provisioning, transaction, charging and rating for supported services such as voice, data, messaging and content on a single, easy-to-manage real-time platform.
