Digicel Selects Redknee for USSD Call Me Solution
MISSISSAUGA, ON — 27 April 2004 — Redknee Inc. the market leader in open architecture wireless solutions, today announced the successful commercial launch of the USSD Call Me solution to Caribbean wireless operator Digicel. Redknee’s USSD Call Me solution will allow Digicel’s prepaid and postpaid wireless subscribers to initiate USSD messages and send Call Me requests to the desired number.Digicel launched the service across their entire Caribbean network in less than a month of engagement. The Redknee USSD Call Me service has been extremely successful with over 250K subscribers using the service within the first month of deployment, and an average of 8 Call Me requests per subscriber monthly. All of this has resulted in a rise of subscriber loyalty for Digicel and an overall increase of voice revenues through call returns.
Redknee’s Call Me solution is based on USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) technology. Redknee’s Call Me solution has increased voice revenues for Digicel by enabling pre-paid subscribers to receive calls in a calling-party-pays environment. This service is normally invoked by subscribers when they have depleted their pre-paid accounts.
