Since I last contributed to this column, Redknee has announced some exciting news: a strategic acquisition, two long-term service contracts with our existing turnkey converged billing customers and more. In this column, I would like to focus on Redknee’s strategic acquisition of Nimbus Systems. This transaction represents an important next step in Redknee’s growth strategy, as we strive towards becoming the provider of choice for real-time billing and customer care solutions for Tier 1 and group operators across the world. We believe that global scope, size of our organization and breadth of our customer base will be important. We are committed to seeking further acquisitions that will help us increase our customer footprint, skilled employees to service these customers and complementary solutions that enable opportunities for strategic synergies. |

Earlier this year, leading industry analyst, Peter Dykes, from Informa Telecoms & Media, wrote an interesting article on the upcoming launch of 4G services and why it is time for operators to decide on their subscriber data management strategy.
“Doing nothing about SDM is not an option because many services and applications designed to run over 4G networks require access to customer data in real-time. Real-time charging, upselling, targeted marketing and loyalty campaigns, location-based services and even simple user log-ins will all require real-time access to customer data.”
But Dykes concedes that a key barrier to accessing data in real-time comes down to the number of service specific silos, usually in different formats and often covering customer information specific to only a particular service. |
