TORONTO and SAN FRANCISCO – September 24, 2013: Redknee Solutions Inc. (TSX: RKN), a leading provider of business-critical billing and charging software and solutions for communications service providers (CSPs), is pleased to announce that it is accelerating the ability of its customers to launch cloud-based billing and customer care solutions as a result of its strategic relationship with Microsoft Windows Azure.
In June 2013, Microsoft Corp. and Oracle announced a partnership to help customers and software service providers embrace cloud computing by providing greater choice and flexibility in how to deploy software. Redknee has spearheaded the development of cloud-based converged billing solutions in the communications space, and today will present at Oracle OpenWorld the first cloud-based revenue and customer management solution to leverage the combination of Oracle Linux, Oracle Database and Java running on Microsoft’s Windows Azure.
Redknee’s CEO, Lucas Skoczkowski, will appear with Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President Brad Anderson at Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco at 1:30pm PST to discuss how the Microsoft and Oracle Cloud Alliance will support service providers and other customers, and especially communications and utility companies around the globe. In the presentation, Mr. Skoczkowski will also provide a demo of Redknee’s cloud-based billing and customer care solution for utility providers and show how they can benefit from leveraging a carrier-grade, real-time billing and customer care solution running on Microsoft Windows Azure.
Lucas Skoczkowski, Redknee’s CEO, commented:
“As a leading provider of monetization and customer care solutions, our strategy is to enable Tier 1 service providers to use on-premise, cloud-based and hybrid systems to support their growth strategies. The success of our strategy has enabled some of the world’s largest service providers to launch into new markets quickly and drive faster time to market. As part of a strategic and long-standing relationship with Microsoft and Oracle, this alliance will expand our addressable market for our solutions to Tier 1 service providers in communications and other verticals, such as utilities and Machine-to-Machine (M2M), that are looking to take advantage of next generation solutions with a low-risk investment strategy.”
Deb Osswald, IDC's Research Vice President of CSP Operations, commented:
“As new services, devices and applications continue to feed into the data explosion, communications service providers need to assess whether their billing systems are able to meet not only today’s dynamic rating and pricing requirements, but also tomorrow’s challenges. With the cost effectiveness and flexibility that cloud environments offer, CSPs can leverage cloud-based billing solutions to provide the business agility they require to quickly deploy and scale their billing operation to solve business challenges and enable new business models. The interoperability that this vendor alliance provides has the potential to accelerate the ability for communications service providers to enjoy the benefits of cloud from both a revenue enhancement and operational support perspective.”
Brad Anderson, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President commented:
“The Windows Azure cloud platform provides the enterprise-grade foundation for highly scalable and flexible solutions. We are delighted to see Redknee expanding its cloud strategy for the communications service provider community by offering solutions that use Oracle software running on Windows Azure. The alliance between Oracle and Microsoft assists independent software vendors such as Redknee in delivering solutions that take full advantage of its suite of enterprise-ready solutions for cloud environments. Redknee’s cloud strategy underscores the value that customers and service providers can gain from the combination of Oracle’s business software and Microsoft’s cloud expertise.”
