Real-Time Subscriber-Centric Rating & Policy Demo
Redknee & Sandvine are proud to announce their Real-Time Subscriber-Centric Rating & Policy Demo at CommunicAsia 2008 which will focus on Redknee's IP Rating and Policy Management combined with Sandvine's leading-edge Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and Policy and Charging Enforcement (PCEF).
Market Need
Consumers worldwide are embracing a new generation of mobile data services into work, home and play. In fact, mobile data users worldwide are expected to grow from 300 million to 2 billion by 2010! Mobile operators are responding with aggressive rollouts of 3G / 3.5G and WiMAX networks to attract consumers with the same performance, quality and open Internet access of their residential broadband service.
Mobile operators are looking to create innovative service plans and deliver consistent high-quality services, while optimizing the use of valuable radio spectrum and backhaul networks.
Demonstration Details
The Redknee/Sandvine Real-Time Subscriber-Centric Policy & Charging demonstration will highlight different potential scenarios:
- Scenario 1
- A subscriber is subject to a monthly 3GB Fair Usage Policy for Data Services. After 3GB, the subscriber’s QoS for his services will decrease unless the package is extended via a purchase
- SMS: “You are approaching your upper limit for data usage. You can extend this service by another 3 GB for £5 by replying to this message with the word ‘continue’.”
- Scenario 2
- A “gold” subscriber signs up for premium package during peak business work day to receive mission critical services such as voice over IP and video streaming.
- Scenario 3
- A pre-paid subscriber signs up for a lower value package where applications such as YouTube are accessed during off peak hours.
